Remembrance Day is a day to remember all of the women and men who have served in Canada’s military. We at Staterra have had a number of family members involved in military service and will be taking time to remember them at ceremonies tomorrow.
Remembrance Day Ceremonies
The largest is at the National War Memorial. This ceremony will begin at 10:20. It is always very busy and a lot of roads will be closed near the memorial between 7:30am and 1:00pm. I have been to this ceremony many times and it is incredible how quiet it gets at certain points. There is an impressive parade following the ceremony. It is worth getting to this one, if you can.
Dress for the weather. It gets chilly at the National War Memorial. We should avoid the rain that we usually seem to get but the temperature will be about 4 degrees at 11:00am. The area is pretty open and the wind can make it feel colder than the posted temperature. You will be standing for about an hour so bundle up. If you cannot make it downtown in the morning there is one more night of the virtual poppy drop on Parliament Hill. The Virtual Poppy Drop is presented by the Legion and is accompanied by the Virtual Wall of Honour showing photographs of deceased Canadian Veterans. This display will run until November 11th and is visible between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

All of the members of our military have made sacrifices for us. It is important to let them know that we appreciate it. Wear a poppy, thank a veteran and enjoy your freedom.
